A Good French Military Sword dated; '1855' w/original scabbard. This is a perfect example of one of the many foriegn made swords were imported to the United States for the Civil War (1860-65). Brass guard; original leather w/twisted brass wire grip; original cabbard. Blade dated; '1855' on the ricasso along w/several French arsenal inspector's marks. A nice sword.
