A Superb English Brass/Bronze Double Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss w/Spring Bayonet by; "TWIGG, LONDON", circa. 1760-1770. 13.75" octagon to round brass/bronze blunderbuss barrels w/platinum touch hole inserts and w/flared muzzles and marked; w/(2 each barrel) early Tower private proofs and both engraved; "London". A spring loaded flip bayonet w/sliding release is mounted on the top of the barrels. Brass locks are engraved; "TWIGG" (John Fox Twigg, Charing Cross, 1755-60 and 132 Strand (oposite Cathrine St.), 1760-1790) and made w/sliding saftys (very high quality). Beautifully engraved brass furniture. Stock has a age stress crack just under the left lock, otherwise solid w/normal scratches and dings from years of service. Very nice checkered wrist. 29.75" overall length. In good working order. By far the finest English double barrel flintlock blunderbuss we have seen. A true Gem...
