A Fine and Rare Large French Silver Mounted Horse Pistol by; 'La Roche, A Paris', circa. 1690-1720. 11" .62 cal. octagon-to-round engraved blued barrel w/decorative Gold overlay, silver front blade-type sight, and, maker signed in Gold; 'La Roche, A Paris'. Stepped flat lock plate w/decorative detail engraving and maker signed; 'La Roche, A Paris'. Wonderful engraved, chiseled, high-relief silver furniture depicting; mythical monsters, bust portraits of Gods, and, panoply-of-arms. Stock is solid with an old period splice repair at the tail of the lock plate (very well executed), exceptional high-relief carving, light scratches and dings from years of service. A great pistol in good working order. 18" overall.
